Fiscal Sponsorship

International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD) Fiscal Sponsorship helps dance artists and groups raise funds for charitable work aligned with IABD's mission, without the cost and complexity of incorporating as a separate nonprofit. Through Fiscal Sponsorship, IABD provides the fiduciary oversight and enables project leaders to keep full responsibility for, and creative control over, their work.

How Fiscal Sponsorship Works

Access to Grants

Opening Doors to New Funding


IABD fiscally sponsored artists and groups may be eligible to apply for government, foundation, and corporate grants that require 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.

Tax-Deductible Giving

Giving Donors More Reasons to Give

Donors who designate cash or in-kind gifts to a sponsored project receive a written acknowledgment from IABD. Their contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.


Full Creative Control

Your Vision, Your Project

Sponsorship can support a one-time creative project or an established company's long-range, noncommercial activities within IABD's charitable mission. Artists retain full creative control throughout.

For Active and New Members

Fiscal Sponsorship Eligibility

IABD Fiscal Sponsorship is open to IABD members who are:


  • Individual dance artists or choreographers
  • Unincorporated dance groups
  • Dance groups organized as a for-profit corporation or partnership
  • Dance groups in the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) status


There is no application fee, no minimum project budget, and no minimum fundraising goal.


Administrative Fees

Transparent, Simple Pricing

IABD retains a small administrative fee on funds received for sponsored projects.


Contribution Types & Administrative Fees


  • Individual donations up to $10,000 – 5%
  • Individual donations above $10,000 – 7%
  • Foundation and government grants – 7%


Administrative fees include credit card and bank processing charges and are subject to change.
