| 2021 Youth Summer Scholarship Audition Requirements |

Beginning February 16, 2021, registration for the Summer Intensive Scholarship Audition will open through the IABD Acceptd online portal.
Live Zoom audition slots will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

February 16, 2021: Online application portal officially opens March 1, 2021: Live Zoom Audition scheduling begins March 14, 2021: Live Zoom Audition scheduling closes April 15, 2021: Auditionees notified of audition results via email APPLICATION FEE: There is a $20 application fee, payable online via major credit card at the time you fully complete and submit your application. To apply for a fee waiver on the basis of financial need, please email a completed fee-waiver application to Acceptd before you submit your application. Upon approval, we will provide you with a promo code to be entered during the payment step of your application on Acceptd. Fee waiver requests must be received no later than March 14, 2021.

STEP 3: LEARN THE COMBO FOR THE LIVE AUDITION STEP 4: ATTEND LIVE ZOOM AUDITION Sat, March 20, 2021 – Live Virtual Audition via Zoom
Men and Women: Appropriate form fitting rehearsal clothing should be worn. All dancers must wear a color that is in contrast to their background. Costumes are not allowed.
1. Introduction: Before performing your selection, please include a spoken introduction in which you state your name, hometown, age, and number of years of dance training. 2. Record your audition in a clearly defined interior space with neutral lighting and background that is free of creases and breaks. 3. Shoot straight on, leaving the camera in one position. The camera should be placed sufficiently close to the performer so that positioning and movement of all parts of the body and face are clear and visible. 4. Record in one take with no editing and with the camera framing your entire body to capture movement in place as well as movement in and through space. Make sure to select the best of several takes for submission. 5. Ensure recording captures good quality sound and image. 6. Please refrain from doing any of the following: a. Do not edit within the improv. b. Do not use special effects, dissolves, fades or wipes. c. Do not submit pre-recorded live performances, such as recitals, concerts, or competitions.
Save and name your files individually such as “resume” and “improv”. Upload each audition selection as a separate video file in the correct space provided. When uploading, be sure to upload to your computer first and verify that image is upright (not sideways) and plays smoothly. Please refrain from doing any of the following:
Artistry – the creativity and sincerity of the performance, which arouses a response within the viewer.
Musicality and phrasing – the ability to physically express the rhythm, melody, nuance, and character of the music through the choreography.
Presentation – the presentation of one's self, physically.
Technique – the skill to execute the demands of the choreography with proficiency and apparent ease.
