For over 29 years, The International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD) has served a diverse, national and international membership of agents and managers, dance companies and studios, educators and educational institutions, individual artists, researchers, and supporters of the Dance field.
As the only national Black Dance service organization, IABD provides programs including the Annual International Conference and Festival of Blacks in Dance, advocacy, communications, and essential research that serve our members’ most pressing needs and address field-wide issues.

The Emergency Fund was first established in 1991 for IABD artists and
companies. Today, IABD is providing limited and short-term assistance
through its fund to Artists, related personnel and Dance organizations,
who are able to demonstrate financial need. Individuals will be eligible
for a minimum of $500; companies will be eligible for a maximum of
AUDITIONS (Ballet, Dance Company, Scholarship) and ARTIST DEVELOPMENT
Support Dance Artists with professional development opportunities at leading dance organizations around the world with scholarship and tuition assistance.
MANAGING ORGANIZATIONAL VITALITY AND ENDURANCE (MOVE)
(formerly Comprehensive Organizational Health Initiative (COHI))
The MOVE program, whose primary function is to help tell an organization’s story through its finances, is designed to strengthen the financial and organizational health of small and midsize dance institutions.
NEXTGENERATION LEADERS OF IABD (NextGen)
NextGen is designed to:
1) identify and cultivate the next generation of Black dance leaders, and
2) support IABD’s desire to create a road map for building and operating a healthier, more sustainable organization.
