The global COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on arts and cultural organizations throughout the performing arts field. And in a recent open letter addressed to the IABD membership entitled, "But Can We Survive this Pandemic?," by Dr. Patricia Reid-Merritt,Afro-One Dance, Drama and Drum Theatre, Inc., voicing concern about her own ability to continue day-to-day operations, IABD is providing a forum for Dance Studio Owners to come together to discuss this issue further.
Join IABD for a 3-PART WORKSHOP TO DISCUSS, PLAN AND PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE OF YOUR DANCE BUSINESS.
Day 1: Let’s Discuss | Monday, July 20, 2020–6:00 PM – 7:30 PM ET | REGISTER
Join other dance studio owners and administrators in an open forum to discuss concerns, challenges, suggestions, etc., of their dance business. Notes will be shared from this discussion with the speakers of Days 2 and 3.
Day 2: Let’s Plan | Wednesday, July 22, 2020–3:30 PM – 5:00 PM ET | REGISTER
(3:30 PM – 4:30 PM) Recovery tips from Special Programs Associate, Carol Foster along with business tips and recommendations from dance studio owners Dr. Ayisha Morgan-Lee (Hill Dance Academy Theatre, PA) & Abdo Sayegh-Rodriguez (TU Dance, MN).
(4:30 PM – 5:00 PM) In smaller groups, participants will create a task list for their studio to plan for their next steps.
Day 3: Let’s Prepare | Friday, July 24, 2020–3:30 PM – 5:00 PM ET | REGISTER
(3:30 – 3:50) In smaller groups, participants will finalize task lists and share their plans with their group.
(3:50 – 5:00) Led by Nonprofit Finance Fund, we will explore the idea of opening or hibernation. Weighing the pros and cons of keeping the business open or closing the doors permanently with discussion to include financial recommendations, resources and considerations.
