A Quick Guide for Reopening and Recovery for Dance Companies, Studio/Schools, and Organizations

In these times, the only thing we can be sure of is the uncertainty of moving forward. For the first time, many of us are learning to take things one day at a time. We are confident and hopeful that we will reopen and restart our studio schools, companies, and organizations soon.

The internet is saturated with information, and the Center for Disease Control (CDC), local, state, and federal government continue to input, revise, and add to various guidelines. The amount of materials is overwhelming, and navigating the search for additional funding to stay afloat is also challenging.

Quick Guide to Recovery & Reopening

The Quick Guide for Reopening and Recovery for Dance Companies, Studio/Schools, and Organizations was created to specifically help dance organizations. This guide is an immediate roadmap with 12 steps for tactical and strategic planning. It does not hold all the answers but ask all the right questions as you prepare to reopen At the end of the 12 steps, there are resource pages that can provide sample plans, templates, and useful information to assist you in your decision-making.

Taking into consideration the economic challenges many organizations face, please consider the following options:

2. Reserve consulting sessions (2-3) $250.00 (member rate IABD) and $350.00 non-member rate. *Additional sessions are available (discounted for members).

3. Apply for a PAR Emergency Planning Grant and identify Carol Foster, Special Programs Associate as your consultant (https://performingartsreadiness.org/grants/). The grant can provide extensive consulting and training services. It can also assist with recovery funds and assistance in completing the Emergency Plan for your organization.

*Fees for Quick Guide Recovery consulting sessions can be included in this grant. Services can be rendered in advance of the grant with adjustments if the funding is not received.

Because of COVID-19, the way we operate will be affected until testing, and a vaccine is readily available. It is critical to be cautious and mindful of the compliances necessary to protect staff, faculty, students, parents, dancers, audiences, and community. The Quick Guide to Recovery/Reopening is a fluid tool that will adapt to the pandemic’s changing needs. In closing, keep in mind the adage “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”
