The International Association of Blacks in Dance’s (IABD) Fiscal Sponsorship program enables groups and individuals in our community to raise funds for purposes related to IABD’s charitable mission without the complexity of incorporating
as a separate non-profit organization.
Fiscal sponsors are tax-exempt, charitable ventures that, according to a recent IRS report "have the ability to receive charitable contributions for specific projects, the infrastructure to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and adequate internal controls to ensure that the funds will be used for the intended charitable purposes." Simply stated, fiscal sponsors place responsibility for implementing programs in the hands of project leaders while ensuring appropriate fiduciary oversight. - National Network of Fiscal Sponsors
IABD fiscally sponsored groups and individuals may be eligible to apply for government, foundation, and corporate grants that require a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status. Donors who designate cash or in-kind contributions for the support
of a fiscally-sponsored group or individual receive written acknowledgement from IABD of their charitable gifts, which are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
IABD fiscal sponsorship's can cover one-time creative projects or an established company’s long-range, noncommercial activities within the scope of IABD’s charitable mission. The artists retain full creative control. If you have current
expenses for your project, the funds you raise will be available as soon as the contribution clears.
You must be an IABD member to apply for fiscal sponsorship, but there is no application fee, no minimum project budget, and no minimum fundraising goal.
