Dallas, TX - January 25 - 26, 2017
On Wednesday, January 25 - Thursday, January 26, 2017, IABD and NAS (National Arts Strategies) together, will be presenting the “IABD LEARNING MAGNET” made possible through the support of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation’s, Fund for National Projects.
This programming is specific to our Next Generation Leaders to support and offer continued strength and development for your organizations and artistry by investing in educational tools, cross-generational learning opportunities and leadership training (Read Press Release here). Recently, four of our constituents (Zenetta Drew, DBDT; Ro’Nita Hawes-Saunders, DCDC; Ayisha Morgan-Lee, Hill Academy Dance Theatre, and Tiffany Rea Fisher, Elisa Monte Dance) participated in the Chief Executive Program (educational arts management coursework) at Harvard Business School as part of this year-long project funding. You can find out more about this program here: http://www.artstrategies.org/programs/the-chief-executive-program/.
This one-year program brings together an international cohort of 50 CEOs who want to more effectively lead change in their organizations, communities and in the cultural field. The Chief Executive Program supports each CEO’s efforts by introducing different approaches from outside our sector, a range of analytical frameworks and a network of allies and collaborators. This program is not about one size fits all solutions – by the end of the experience, participants will have the tools and connections needed to boost their ability to create change in their own unique contexts. They will join nearly 200 Chief Executive Program alumni to form a network of leaders positioned to introduce field-level change.
For two days, workshop sessions will occur as part of the 29th Annual International Conference and Festival of Blacks in Dance. Sessions will run from 3:00pm - 7:00pm on Wednesday, January 25 and 8:30am - 1:15pm on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel and feature Dr. Laura Morgan Roberts, http://www.lauramorganroberts.com/, the Learning Magnet Keynote Speaker and workshop leader, Baraka Sele, Independent Arts Consultant leading a panel on “Leadership in Practice” with the 5 Founding Companies of IABD, and Denise Saunders Thompson, President/CEO, speaking with the four participants from the Chief Executive Program on “Leading Change in the Field.”
This FREE Leadership session is specifically geared towards our Next Generation Leaders. All participants will receive a $100 participation/travel stipend for their involvement in the sessions. In addition, you will also have year long access to online business classes through National Arts Strategies to assist you with the operations and management of your dance companies and individual businesses.
