In marking 28 years of serving the Black Dance field, the International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD) will host its 31st Annual International Conference and Festival in Dayton, OH from January 22 – 27, 2019, in partnership with Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. Don’t miss the opportunity to join with the broadest gathering of Black Dance professionals in the US and Internationally, including agents, artistic directors, artists, choreographers, company managers, executive directors, historians, presenters, scholars, teachers, and so many others.
The Ultimate Dance Experience
Over four days, participants will engage in invaluable professional opportunities. Workshop and Panel Sessions will provide examples of successful new and innovative models. Dialogues with legends and next generation artists will inspire new thinking for a vibrant future for Dance. Once in a lifetime Performances will include a gathering of national and international Dance Companies and artists only seen at IABD.
Dance for Youth & Educators
Teachers, Instructors, Studio Owners – we’ve planned some great activities for you and your students! Performance opportunities and Dance classes are available for your students. Classes and workshops for teachers/studio owners will be offered at the Conference and Festival! Come to IABD to receive information and instruction from the leading Masters in all genre’s and fields of Dance!
For Professionals and Pre-Professionals
Professional/college and pre-professional dancers can register for the Conference and Festival and be exposed to leading artists in the field.Festival packages that include master classes and tickets for performances will be available. Career pathway workshops, and post career guidance will also be offered.
The Conference and Festival also offers scholarship auditions for summer programs/intensives and college/university dance programs as well as a multi-dance company auditions for professional dance companies in ballet, modern, and contemporary dance. IABD offers the largest convening of Dance directors, programs, and companies that offer persons of color these kinds of opportunities in a central setting.
