CULTURAL SPACES/
COMMUNITY FACES:
A WOCA
MEET AND GREET

Wednesday,
May 2, 2018

6:00pm -
7:30pm

Join WOCA Founding Director, Kaisha S. Johnson, in an informal meet and greet in the city that birthed her - Austin, TX. We'll chat with co-host Keyheira Keys, cultural worker and community activist, about the importance of place-keeping and her work with Six Square, an organization dedicated to the cultural preservation of the historically African-American district of East Austin. We'll also have an opportunity to view the mural that gained national attention (in response to Keyheira's activism) in the fight against one of the most damaging effects of gentrification in communities of color - cultural erasure.

This event is open to all current and prospective WOCA members and all authentic allies. This is an opportunity to meet fellow cultural workers and arts leaders in and around Austin and from around the country (in town for the APASO conference.

The event is FREE to attend. Just be sure to RSVP to rsvp@womenofcolorinthearts.org with your name and professional affiliation.
