HOBBS WATERS is a thirteen year old from the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. He has been training in Ballet technique and repertoire from the age of seven, and dance is Hobbs passion. Hobbs is a current student at Steps PDX, Dance Academy where he is as a performing soloist and primarily trains and performs in a Balanchine Technique based curriculum. In addition, he trains in Contemporary and Modern Techniques, Jazz, and various Ethnic dances. Hobbs is looking to pursue Dance as a professional career, performing with the Cuban National Ballet as a principal dancer. This year Hobbs has been accepted into thirteen summer dance intensives across the nation. He has committed to attending the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble summer intensive (Denver, CO) and the Dance Theatre of Harlem summer intensive (New York, NY), where he received a full merit scholarship to both programs. Hobbs will also be a participant in a dance company residency at the Tabanka Dance Ensemble, on a full merit scholarship, in Oslo, Norway. He primarily financially elevates himself so he can pursue his dance aspirations via scholarships, selling his ink illustrations and paintings as well as through the online sales of his urban and apparel lifestyle line citytroll.com. This particular avenue of sales is not financially substantial enough yet to ensure his needs, which is why he needs his community's assistance in helping him pursue all of his dance endeavors. Hobbs has partnered with IABD to take tax deductible donations to go towards his dance education, particularly for summer intensive travel and housing expenses.
